One thing about me is that I fundamentally believe in celebrating the people I love and making sure they know how much I appreciate & admire them. Every person I care about has things about them that are SO COOL and they should know.

Being constructively critical of yourself and your community while being empathetic towards others is a difficult thing and I just don’t think we’re doing a good job as a whole right now.
To be clear, I also think there’s a point on either side where it swings around into outside blame which makes things very unproductive.
I wonder how things would change if folks learned more self-analysis skills and if we also became more tolerant of mistakes that people show learning from.
I’ve been trying to do some listening around why it’s been easy for moderate people to swing right and why the left tends to cannibalize itself. I recently had a thought that there’s self-analysis & internal critique encouraged by the left and outside blame & othering encouraged by the right.
