Talking with my insurance, the guy kept slipping and calling me "ma'am" even though I was doing my best to sound like a dude. 🤣 My legal name still hasn't changed (I know) so I just pretend to be a guy when I call my bank and insurance... but that doesn't really work anymore. 🤭
It was upside down when it hit the windshield so it managed to roll up my car hood, get pinged over my head (roof was down!) and land on its feet on the side of the road.
Because it's a really low car with the roof below modern pickup hoods, the deer was safely deflected and continued to sprint into the woods without missing a beat. It lost tufts of fur in my grille, but there was no blood.
I'm not one to mull over scary events, but goodness I have been mentally replaying that deer hitting my windshield last night. I wasn't scared - I was resigned to what the universe was throwing at me - but if my A-pillar and glass weren't so strong he would have hit my face. 🙏🏻
I really love this dumb little car. It always pulls through for me. Case in point: Hitting an adult buck on the highway with your roof down is, remarkably, not a death sentence for any party. The deer ran into the woods, Vi and I are both unharmed, and the damage is cosmetic other than headlight.☺️🙏🏻
These guys can be SO hard to spot! Thankfully Phil has been hanging out all day, showing up on Vi's car, falling into my lap, and even using the underside of my foot as a pitstop for half an hour. Vi is taking night photos of him as I type this. 🥰
