I think it might be best for your mental health to take a break from looking at social media for just a couple of days. Or just...set a specific time to look at social media, like for an hour in the afternoon only. Also we should absolutely get together and do something! Maybe make it a routine?

OH YEAH I forgot to mention! I also recently changed the voices to Japanese in my Cookie Run Kingdom game for some extra passive listening practice. It's kind of a huge leap from what I know. Especially this current event, which is just Religious Trauma 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Anyway!! What have I been doing lately? I've been reading quite a bit of NHK Easy lately, mostly just reading one article a day at most. The latest article I read up about was about a toy convention! So many new toys are using AI, apparently. I'm not sure how to feel about that, honestly.
Okay, so: I want to focus on speaking more Japanese. Do some shadowing and practice with my sister in law and brother in law and possibly do some Italki. While I do have some anxieties about the possibility of moving to Japan, I'm going to save that for later, if it actually happens.
Though that last part can be fixed by just learning and reviewing vocabulary and grammar points, the first part...man, I just need to talk to people. Maybe I know more than I think? The only way to really find out is to actually, you know. Have conversations.
I'm trying to pinpoint what's making me most anxious about speaking, and...I've always been shy, but I guess I'm afraid of saying something really really bad? Though, I think people would be a bit more forgiving since I'm learning? OH, that, and not knowing exactly what I want to say. That too.
I'm thinking...italki? I saw a teacher on there that looked really nice, and I'd love to practice speaking with her! Of course with the time difference, I would most likely have these sessions at 6 in the morning, but I don't mind. I've always been an early bird, haha.
By far my biggest weakness right now is speaking. (It's actually writing, but I'm not focusing on writing right now) I NEED to have speaking conversations in Japanese. The easy answer is to talk more to my sister in law and brother in law, but I feel bad about having to constantly rely on that?
I'm not going to worry about learning Japanese as fast as possible. I'm going to take my time learning it. It's all about the journey! I guess all that's going to change within the next few months is if I solely focus on speaking and listening or if I focus on mostly JLPT stuff.
Biggest priority either way is to be able to listen and speak Japanese because I want to talk to my cool brother in law and my adorable nieces! It's just that if we do end up moving I'll absolutely focus on the JLPT. Although I'll try to find work at an international school, better to have the N2/1!
However, if he does not get the job...I'm not going to worry so much about the JLPT. My brother in law is Japanese and I'd love to have conversations with him in Japanese! I'd also love to really talk to my nieces too, they will speak Japanese to everyone whether they know it or not haha
As far as my goals go, it...okay, it's kind of depending on what happens within the next few months. My husband has an audition for a character spot at Universal Studios Japan this month. If he gets the job, we will move to Japan. If that's the case, I want to test and pass at N1 eventually.
First off, I think I'm now at around the N4 level? Though I feel like I'm being very, very generous with that. Throughout this year, I've been really trying to get out of my comfort zone and reading/watching more native material. The website Jisho is my best friend, haha.
