I don’t love everything the Israeli government has done in response to Oct. 7. But I love Israel, and hope very much to return one day.
When we visited Israel in 2023 we saw a vibrant, diverse, thriving country. Everywhere we went we met Israelis of many different backgrounds. Our tour guide was an Arab Christian born in Jerusalem. Our bus driver was Jewish. We spent time with Bedouins in the desert. October 7 broke my heart.

Heartbreaking and infuriating. My nephew lived into his thirties with a childhood brain cancer. He met everything cancer threw at him with a can do attitude and hope in his heart. It breaks mine now to think that kids like he was may not have access to that same level of care, or to that hope.
