I took an oath to support the Tennessee Constitution & the United States’ Constitution (& Nashville’s Charter, fwiw). State leaders took an oath to uphold the U.S. & TN Constitutions. I’m pretty sure voting to criminalize my votes on Metro’s Council violates rights in both those constitutions. 🦞

The Metro Arts Commission has a new interim director. A deputy from another Metro department who has been intimately involved in Metro Arts reforms will leave her position temporarily to direct the commission as the search continues for a new full-time director. Story: @stelliott.bsky.social
My favorite part of today was listening to my friend @aebachelder.bsky.social list her fucking impressive qualifications before being named the new interim director of Metro Arts. My least favorite part of today is that I am not in Nashville to awkwardly hug her.
The Arts Commission Potentially appointing Ashley Bachelder to be the interim ED is a wise choice. She has been deeply invested in this entire process, and I trust her ability to make the best decisions possible.

The Metro Arts Commission has appointed Ashley Bachelder, current Director of Policy & Research for the Metro Human Relations Commission, as the Interim Executive Director for the Metro Arts Department. Commissioner Leah Dupree-Love was the sole "no" vote.
Once a permanent ED is selected, Bachelder would return to her position at MHRC.

45 min! There were no kids there when I went. Depending on age (mostly the ability to sit through 45 min performance- they ask you to not get up during it), I’d think it’s kid friendly. It’s entirely music-based, so it’s really entertaining!

Nashville has rejected a contract with surveillance tech company Axon Fusus by one vote. Fears of abuse, from local law enforcement to federal forces with the incoming presidential administration won the day. An immense victory for local organizers and community-based orgs. Fuck yeah. 🦞
