I did speak to someone who did have imagineer in their linkedin bio going back several years (I used the wayback machine to check) and who lived in Florida during that approximate time and told me it was the case.
I love reading but I have had a hard time with fiction lately and I would like to fall back in love with it. Is there anything you've been reading that has really flipped your wig?

You can get a used gen loss mkII FOR $300, but I’m also not sure it’s worth that much.
This pedal is called the Generation Loss. It introduces the sound of a bunch of different old tape based recording — from old vhs sounds to handheld recorders. And the knobs allow you to control, basically, how destroyed the tape sounds. It makes everything sound a little more ghostly.

I believe in this show and more importantly in the hyperfixed team. We all have side hustles at the moment but I would love for our show to pay a living wage. Also one of my team members was laid off of their side hustle today. So if you like the show and can support that’d be amazing.
I would like to get to the point where @hyperfixedpod.bsky.social reaches minimum viability and can continue to grow without any kind of corporate investment. Right now our options are to put more ads in the feed or to keep asking listeners for support, and prefer the latter to the former.
More layoffs today at wondery. More shows ending. Corporations are divesting themselves of podcasts made by journalists and pivoting toward shows that are made by celebrities and translate well to video. I sincerely believe that independence is the only way forward for most media at this point.

Long form documentary podcasting, as nerdy as it sounds, is the only thing ive ever wanted to do and i feel very lucky that i get to, but it’s really brutal out there right now. My main goal at the moment is just to get out of debt and give people raises, and it’s taking longer than I hoped!
It’s as much fate as it is corporate greed — the podcast market is saturated right now, way harder to make a dent in this climate. Also the pandemic resulted in a bunch of people use used to commute for hours a day (myself included) working from home, so that severely cut listening time.
Wondery fired 110 producers today. The latest in a bunch of cuts that have decimated long form narrative podcasting. I have noodled for years now on the way forward and I really see independent shows as the only way. Some of my producers lost side gigs from this. It’s really hard out here!
