I homeschool my kids, as someone touched by gun violence this is partly why, but we aren’t safe from it either. I still take my kids to the movie theater, shopping centers, and grocery stores, all other common targets. Mass shootings endanger all of us, all our children. You can’t escape the risk.
Sadly, even home isn’t a safe place for many children. Domestic violence and child abuse can involve guns, as too many victim advocates know.

I’m in Anaheim, CA for a conference this week, and I saw and heard a flock of feral parrots for the first time! Feral quaker parrots have flown overhead several times during my stay, making their signature squawks.
