This is click bait. The headline suggests Allen might be aligning himself politically with Trump. He expresses the opposite, repeatedly, and the praise is limited to saying he found Trump pleasant to work with on a film production in the 1990s. Exploiting two controversial figures for clicks.

O’Neill, unlike Monarez, has no training in medicine or infectious disease science. He is a former speechwriter for the health department, during the Bush years, who went on to work for the tech investor and conservative megadonor Peter Thiel. During the Covid pandemic, O’Neill voiced public support for unproven treatments that were not supported by scientific evidence, including ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, as well as vitamin D as a supposed “prophylaxis”. He also posted a number of conspiratorial theories on social media, including the baseless claim that “the name #COVID was chosen to conceal the origin of the virus. This name made it harder to study and probably slowed the response.”

Valerie Zink: "I can’t in good conscience continue to work for Reuters given their betrayal of journalists in Gaza and culpability in the assassination of 245 our colleagues." xcancel.com/valeriezink/

A Reuters press badge cut in half. It reads Valerie Zink Photographs contractor Photographer A white woman with long blonde hair and bangs gazes at the camera in a black turtleneck. For the past eight years I have worked as a stringer for Reuters news agency. My photos covering stories in the prairie provinces have been published by the New York Times, Al Jazeera, and other media outlets across North America, Asia, Europe, and elsewhere. At this point it's become impossible for me to maintain a relationship with Reuters given its role in justifying and enabling the systematic assassination of 245 journalists in Gaza. I owe my colleagues in Palestine at least this much, and so much more. When Israel murdered Anas Al-Sharif, together with the entire Al- Jazeera crew in Gaza City on August 10, Reuters chose to publish Israel's entirely baseless claim that Al-Sharif was a Hamas operative -one of countless lies that media outlets like Reuters have dutifully repeated and dignified. Reuters' willingness to perpetuate Israel's propaganda has not spared their own eporters from Israel's genocide. Five more iournalists, including Reuters cameraman Hossam Al-Masri, were among 20 people killed this morning in another attack on Nasser hospital. It was what's known as a Western media is directly culpable for creating the conditions in which this can happen. As Jeremy Scahill from Drop Site News put it, It did not compel them to come to his defence when he appealed ○ international media for protection after an Israeli military spokesperson posted a video making clear their intention to assassinate him following a report he did on the growing famine. It did not compel them to report on his death honestly when he was hunted and killed weeks later. have valued the work that I brought to Reuters over the past eight years, but at this point I can't conceive of wearing this press pass with anything but deep shame and grief. I don't knov what it means to begin to honour the courage and sacrifice of iournalists in Gaza - the bravest and best to ever live - but going forward I will direct whatever contributions I have to offer with that front of mind.

I just can't find meaning in this kind of narrativization. There is no Rubicon; we've been over the Rubicon our whole lives. What was Iraq if not this, what was Reagan's response to AIDS, etc etc. It's just a constant rediscovery and forgetting so we can operate as relatively sane people

With regard to allowing unidentified, masked law officers on the streets, the truth is we have slipping on this slope for decades now. In a republic, police stand by actions publicly -- an ethos under assault for longer than ICE has existed. An older essay on this: davidsimon.com/the-endgame-...

Also, @fattymoon.bsky.social: Calling people prdophiles or insinuating as much over incongruous differences of opinion or questioning somebody’s party line has, until the past week, been a hallmark of MAGA/QAnon. Not an example an any free human being should emulate.

God is all-knowing but the rest of us mortals need to be humble, reasonable, and clear about what facts are in evidence versus speculation. Otherwise we are nothing more than mouthpieces for other people’s ideas and agendas.

“Oh please” what? I think crime should be investigated and prosecuted as the evidence supports, and victims vindicated and compensated. And I have already stated that I think this is a story in the legitimate public interest as a political matter.

My first thought would be that they think the Epstein list is a distraction and might not exist. It’s still a legit news story, but that doesn’t mean people generally need to obsess about it or have the same opinion about it. A lot of thought-killing stuff on the socials this weekend.

Doing a story like this – about an error etched into a local monument – requires sympathy and humor without victims. Was most grateful to speak with the fellow behind QuoteInvestigator.com for this piece, helping set the record straight without umbrage.
