The overall takeaway from the Epstein survivors’ press conference is that they are united and are no longer going to allow rich and powerful men to victimize, silence and intimidate them. Including the ones in Congress and the perp in the Oval Office.

That Pritzker press conference was... surreal, and I think marks a significant moment of escalation in the constitutional omni-crisis. This was the governor of a state saying plainly the Union itself is being torn apart and his state is being militarily invaded by an authoritarian regime.

The top tax rate on capital gains is 20%. The top tax rate on labor income is 37%. So an emergency room doctor working all night to save lives gets a tax bill almost twice as high as a Wall Street investor who just checks stock prices on his phone all day. Screwed up.

I tend to listen to audiobooks at 2x+ speed. A study from 2019 in science advances claims the brain can handle 39 bits/s. And is generally consistent with human speed speech regardless of language. Calculating it out I listen to closer to 94 bits/s. That is the speed that my brain likes. /1
