This 100% tracks with my own personal experience. My friends/family fall pretty firmly into two camps â knowledgeable about computer science or totally non-techy â and the immediate perceptions of generative AI like ChatGPT couldnât have been more different between the two groups.

According to the journalâs paper tracker, the reason it took 14 months for the first found of my job market paper was that it sat on the Senior Editorâs desk for 6+ months before he even sent it out for review. (Also, peer reviewers are exhausted. Maybe we/they should demand shorter articles.)

Access to Georgia Code Annotated, the official law of Georgia, was paywalled until 2020 (court decision; actual implementation came years later). RECAP is great, but PACER isnât as accessible. Circuit & state decisions arenât aggregated/searchable for lay folk. Still a long way to go in the U.S.

A much better set of examples is from the book âInfluencerâ (Grenny, Patterson, et al.). Its central conceit is that changing *one* behavior can solve massive social/organizational problems.

Today it was project management at a leadership course. Last week it was risk management with career engineers. (Iâm no longer at uni and have a ârealâ job.) An admittedly flawed example (because itâs off the cuff): homelessness.

Perhaps part of the reason is a theme in my lessons this week: the way we define the problem often predetermines the solution. Therefore we must take great care to be sure weâve identified the right problem.
