I have seen a dead body on the DC Metro, though. Well, in a station a stop or two before New Carrollton, so there are issues that might make people hesitate. They are generally just grimier than in Europe
Public transportation is very uneven. I had trouble in Chicago figuring how to buy a daily pass. In Barcelona, I had no such issue even though I don't speak Catalan or Spanish. And I've seen a dead body on the DC Metro, so yeah there are issues and liberals should not deny them.
