This will be remembered more for the tragedy that occurred during filming, than the film’s quality itself. I’ve seen a few episodes of the original show, but I feel most episodes of The Twilight Zone will stick with you more than this film. Joe Dante’s & George Miller’s segments are the best part.

Watched the new I Know What You Did Last Summer. Good cast & kills. Cool to see Freddie Prinze Jr & Jennifer Love Hewitt, even if they’re mainly exposition dumps. But the film harpoons itself in the foot with a busy & rushed ending. Odd tonal shifts & creative swings didn’t work for me. #Horrorsky

A film that any aspiring/emerging filmmaker should see. Living In Oblivion is a film they should watch before going to film school & then watch after leaving film school. It's a wonderful satirical mid 90s comedy about filmmaking, primarily low budget independent filmmaking. Great fun #Filmsky

Though the screenplay’s structure & narrative (at times) might make it hard to connect with the story & its larger than life Jazz figure, Forest Whitaker’s tremendous & compelling performance as Charlie Parker will keep you invested. A pretty good film from director Clint Eastwood. Worth a watch.

Yeah. I agree. There are many loose hanging threads. Especially all the Kang stuff established which is all redundant now. Shang-Chi 2 should have happened before his appearance in Doomsday. Also the Dr Strange mid-credits bit with Charlize Theron seems like something that should be looked at too.

I haven’t seen David Fincher’s Panic Room in a long time. An excellent & fun early 2000s thriller. Fincher & screenwriter David Koepp utilise the premise very well & keep things dynamic & suspenseful. Jodie Foster & Kristen Stewart are wonderful as mother & daughter. Fincher at his most Hitchcockian

Ozzy going out after raising $190 million for sick kids and a Parkinson’s cure is metal AF.
Robert Rodriguez’s adaptation of Frank Miller’s Sin City is still a fun & pulpy Neo Noir yarn. A real cinematic & visual treat, still holds up over 20 years after its release. Even if it is mostly brought to life by green screen & CGI, it looks pretty flawless & cool. The cast is awesome. #filmsky

#NowWatching Get Shorty One of my favourite films. Probably one of the few great Elmore Leonard adaptations. Works as both a crime film & a Hollywood satire. Very sharp & funny script from Scott Frank. One film I watched as a kid/teenager that made me want to get into the film industry. #filmsky

Yeah, Singer is a P.O.S. Quite a few problematic people in this film. I enjoyed the Gunn Superman more but there is quite a bit to like with this one. Brandon Routh was good and I do wish he got a sequel to show more what he could do
Bryan Singer’s Richard Donner’s Superman Returns is not as bad as I remember. A fine & fun film. It does come across as a big budget fan project. Singer spent more time tributing & honouring the Donner-verse instead of making their own unique & original take on the Man of Steel. #Superman #filmsky

My #JimJarmusch #Sunday ended with his delightful film Paterson. I hadn’t seen it before. I liked this film. As a burgeoning & hungry creative, I found this inspiring. A nicely paced & compelling contemplative drama. It now makes me want to go to Paterson, New Jersey & see what inspiration hits me.
Having a bit of a #JimJarmusch #Sunday. I saw Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai for the first time in ages today. It’s one of my top favourites of Jarmusch’s films. It’s a good starting point for those Jarmusch newbies. One of his more accessible films. A profoundly weird, but fun film. #Filmsky

Superman is meant to be earnest in a goofy world. That's exactly why James Gunn's Superman works. He is also (and I didn't have space to get into this) very measured on using his powers. The eye beams should always be used this sparingly.

Yep! I very much enjoyed that. Few narrative fumbles in the beginning, but after I was fully onboard with it. Never felt bored, it was exciting & fun & very moving in places. James Gunn gets the DC Universe back up & running with his energetically & positively, aspirational punk rock #Superman film

Along with Tim Burton's Batman & Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, Richard Donner's #Superman is the blueprint for how to make a great & engaging superhero comic book film. Epically grandiose, incredibly moving & just filled with so much charm & joy. Donner nails the tone. Christopher Reeve really was great

Despite the efforts of its likeable, good looking cast & passionate director, #JurassicWorldRebirth both satisfies & disappoints. Lovely visuals, some action sequences are very suspenseful. Gareth Edwards is great with scale & spectacle. But its weak screenplay & characterisation let the side down.
“Maybe I was just born in the wrong era, man. I’m a bit of a throwback to the days of black and white movies.” Always been a big fan of character actors, with Michael Madsen being one of my favourites. He could be both intimidating & vulnerable. Brought such depth & gravitas to his roles #RIP #actor

Road to #JurassicWorldRebirth ends with JW3. I don’t have such a big problem with Dominion like others do. The hatred is a bit much. I get the criticisms, but it’s still a fun & satisfying enough watch. Some good globe trotting Dino action, plus it was awesome to see the old guard back. #filmsky

Whoops! Forgot to post about #JurassicPark 3 😅 Definitely one of the weak spots in the franchise but still entertaining enough to not be the black feet of the Jurassic Park/World films. Joe Johnston does fine work here. Great to see Sam Neill back. Though the rest of the cast is pretty forgettable.
Onwards on the road to #JurassicWorldRebirth The J.A. Bayona helmed sequel to Jurassic World is maybe a bit of retread of the plot of The Lost World: Jurassic Park, but still Fallen Kingdom is a solid entry in the franchise. Even if the franchise shows signs it is running out of steam & ideas.
Road to #JurassicWorldRebirth continues! #JurassicWorld has its valid flaws & controversies, but I still find this to be a solid & satisfyingly entertaining summer blockbuster. It’s the best of the recent three films & the script/narrative is fairly strong in my opinion. Thematically strong too.
I enjoyed reading this graphic novel/comic. Very poignant, inspiring and thought provoking. Would really like to read more of Zoe Thorogood’s work after reading this. Check it out!

Alejandro Amenábar’s Open Your Eyes (Abre Los Ojos) really is like a bad dream that you can’t wake up from. A nightmarish drama bordering on psychological horror. A brooding, well made & frighteningly surreal existential story that deals with a lot of heavy themes like dreams, reality & identity.
I really enjoyed reading Vampires of El Norte by @isabelcanas.bsky.social. A fantastic book. My older brother gave this to me for my birthday a while ago. He said that this sounded like my kind of book and that I would like it a lot. And he was totally right.

The road to #JurassicWorldRebirth - Part 1. #JurassicPark is such a timeless classic. Every aspect of the film is impeccably put together. Everything down to the music, the cinematography & the production design. And especially the CGI & the practical effects courtesy of the legendary Stan Winston.

This #NYTimes Best of the 21st Century ballot was hard. Some may disagree with my choices. But film is so subjective, we all have different opinions on what is great & is the best. These films here are great & some even made a big impression on me. Few really influenced me to go out & make movies.

#28YearsLater doesn’t quite match the intensity of the first two films, but this British folk horror/coming of age film is still enjoyable & satisfying. If this was the 70s, Ralph Fiennes’s character would be played by Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee. A very subversive & unexpected film. #filmsky

Along with Ballad of a Soldier, Come And See & The Cranes Are Flying, Andrei Tarkovsky’s Ivan’s Childhood captures a lyrically beautiful but nightmarish plus futile look at war from a child’s perspective.
