Interesting phrasing at the end there: “… making sure people are proud of the communities they live in…” Perhaps a sign that this government has finally come up with a positive framing of what’s happening with the hotels and flags?
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
The Sound Lounge had every single one of their windows smashed overnight. As you say, they are trying to have a positive impact on the local community and then stuff like this happens? So sad.

Here at OUTERNET. A newish venue just off Denmark Street. They are one of those bands that are always superb live.

Saw Diiv tonight. Absolutely brilliant. A band who continually push the envelope and are not afraid to make a statement. 👏
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
Great pod as always, gents. Yes, midfield is a bit light but I’m impressed at how many problems the club have solved in just one window.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
We’ve had more shots and more expected goals than anyone else???
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
Brilliant! I was at the first leg at the Nou Camp. Felt good to go through in that tie.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
It ended up being a great window imo. Cunha, Mbeumo, Sesko, Leon and Lammens in. Just as important, we have moved on Antony, Garnacho, Hojlund, Rashford and Sancho. This really is a new Manchester United now.

One of the Manchester clubs has a manager under the microscope with people clamouring for him to be sacked. The other, does not. Pep enjoying the benefits of being at a smaller club, I suppose. #MUFC

Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
I actually think Amorim could pull off an upset and get us a top 4 finish this season.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
It’ll be interesting to see what happens. The other thing in favour of him staying is that Amorim named him as one of the members of his leadership group in the dressing room.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
I can’t see him getting so many chances at United though as he is competing with Dalot and Amad for right wing back and with a few CBs for that right CB slot.

Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
Short term manager bounce? Is that what you’re looking for? I’m personally looking for something much more radical than that because Manchester United has been a disjointed ‘short term bounce’ club for too long.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
He has made big changes already. People need to realise that the mess Amorim inherited was worse than the mess inherited by any other of those other managers (with the possible exception of SAF).

I’m sure many people get where you’re coming from, but “switching conversation” absolutely is one of the things a ruling party should do. This government needs to be far bolder in describing its vision and wresting control of the narrative. The failure to even attempt that plays into Farage’s hands.

There are some positive signs. They’re allowing all the train operating companies to transition to public ownership. They’ve set up Great British Energy. I also think Steve Reed is waiting for Thames Water to fail so it can be brought into public ownership without having to buy out the shareholders.

Unfortunately racism is very much on the rise across society and ultimately this is linked to what political leaders do. We all need to decide what to do regarding the rise of Reform. I know which side I’ll be on when the next election comes around.

So every government knew all along that Netanyahu’s government would bring famine to Gaza and they refused to stop it? However, bella34 knew it all along? If so, I suggest you apply to become Secretary General of the UN so that we can all benefit from your amazing foresight and clairvoyance.

"The environmental impact of Starmer’s government is a disaster"? Let me guess... you are now going to attempt to persuade me that the Sunak government did more to tackle the climate crisis?
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
You don't know what is going on behind closed doors. I'm sure the UK govt is applying significant pressure to Netanyahu's govt. As for your comment about 18 months, ALL governments have shifted position to reflect the escalating situation. We didn't know 18 months ago what would be happening today.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
I work for an organisation that is trying to change the way we all do business - to make it focus more on social and environmental impact. Examples of social enterprises include The Big Issue (supporting the homeless into work) and Cafedirect (providing support to smallholder farming communities).
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
Every UK government has CLEARLY supported Israel since the state was created. The current government has gone through a process of withdrawing support as the Israeli government has ramped up its attacks on civilians. Now it has said it will recognise the state of Palestine. Perhaps you missed that?
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
Our government does whatever Israel asks it to? Really? Does it? No. No, it doesn’t. You’re twisting the facts to fit the narrative that is already in your head about this government being a right wing government. Facts might not matter to you but they do to me.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
No, I don’t think so.

I note you say "The Action" (singular). I suspect you're referring to the time they spray painted some planes. My understanding is that there is more to it than that. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
Heres what it boils down to. You think Palestine Action was proscribed because of the 'Palestine' bit. I think it was proscribed because of the 'Action' bit - i.e. their actions. I may be wrong. Perhaps Yvette Cooper and Keir Starmer agreed that this is a way to support Israel. But I don't think so.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
There's a specific reason behind the arrests. I do not condone it one bit, but I also wish people wouldn't misrepresent the arrests. There is a very specific thing behind those arrests.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
Arresting people for protesting against a genocide? Nope. That isn't why they are being arrested.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
If there's one final thing I'd recommend to you, it is this: Try not to quote post somebody with a personal comment. It really isn't a good thing to do. Have a good day.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
Sorry Andrew, your logic is totally flawed. You have thrown an accusation at me for emotional reasons - i.e. due to your hatred of 'Dear Leader'. I do not support the arresting of people for holding signs. Have a good day.
Andy Daly (@andydaly.bsky.social) reply parent
(b) I absolutely understand why you do that. Some might call it cowardly. (a) There's something distasteful about pulling something out of somebody's profile (in a quote post no less) to lambast what they are saying while you won't reveal that thing about yourself.
