Worth noting that only 29% of Columbia's undergraduate population is white American students right now. It's hard to imagine that this deal isn't going to radically transform the makeup of the Columbia student body, and very quickly.
Calling these outcomes 'deals' or 'agreements' is in the interest of both university administrators (who do not want to appear passive) and the White House (which does not want to appear authoritarian). They are extortionsâdisplays of power & dominance designed to coerce all universities watching.
