My thoughts on national color guys outside of Perez and Cone Jeff Francoeur is really good. Ron Darling is fine but better in Mets games John Smoltz is mostly brutal but occasionally smart when he’s not ranting about “analytics”. Adam Wainwright is not great. AJ Pierzynski is awful.
I hope NBC or whoever can figure out a way to get Eduardo Perez and David Cone as color guys because I think they’re great. Probably the 2 best national color guys out there that I can think of. (Ravech can stay at ESPN)

In 2024, Kerkering allowed only 3 runs on 13 inherited runners. Lower rate than Jeff Hoffman or Matt Strahm. Are we sure this stat is sticky year to year or even game to game? Stats that kind of measure similar success (LOB% is a good one) aren’t sticky.
This isn’t inherited runners but I can’t find this stuff for that specifically (thanks savant) but his QOC goes down with RISP or a runner is on. He’s probably just getting unlucky in these spots most of the time (but he also has a job to do)

Yeah that’s a great point. I will say that guys like Allen and Lamar played a lot of college ball so it was probably a little easier for the Bills and Ravens to justify a long term plan. They just knew more about the position
