That made me chuckle.
What is happening in the US is the same that has happened in every fascist state in history: oligarchs exploiting hate to increase their wealth and power. We thought it couldn't happen here, but we were wrong.

I don't know anything about these shows. I mentioned The View because that's the one I know. Have a good day.

Not so fast, my friend. Let's see if the old Kimmel comes back first.
A Reader (@areader55.bsky.social) reply parent
Sadly, there will never be another JFK or MLK. The country is too divided for that, and all of this began when an Australian right-winger started Fox News in the 90's.
A Reader (@areader55.bsky.social) reply parent
The news today that ABC is bringing back Kimmel agrees with my guess that The View got the blessing today to mention it.
A Reader (@areader55.bsky.social) reply parent
Their explanation that they didn't say anything for two days while waiting for Kimmel's reaction just doesn't hold water.
A Reader (@areader55.bsky.social) reply parent
I am calling bollocks on The View hosts. "We waited for Kimmel to say something first" doesn't begin to be believable as an explanation for their silence. They didn't say anything until they were cleared by ABC.

Interesting. This could be a street in Europe, easily. It's not your typical American neighborhood street.

They think they are fighting for the righteous cause of keeping the USA a majority-white country. They saw the demographic projections that Whites would be a majority-minority by the 2040's. This is what this is all about. And yes, they will fight for it with any means necessary.

The point of the joke on SNL is that the character (Stuart Smalley) was none of those things.

Look up what Brazil is doing to their out-of-power fascists. Everything is within the letter of the law, amidst strident accusations of abuse and demands of amnesty from the fascists. We will see if American democracy will have the nerve.

In retrospect, it would have been better to let the South go (if there wasn't the issue of slavery).
