No. But if in order to do so they resort to antisemitic tropes then yes. For example holocaust minimizers, or people who think Zionists control their country.

I find it similar to some “liberals” that hold racist/classist views but think of them as political opinions. They honestly think that they are progressive and then regurgitate reactionary ideas about homeless people or “thugs”. And if you call it out then you’re the racist.

I’m not saying antizionism is always antisemitism. I’m saying many people who think are just antizionist don’t realize that they have antisemitic ideas. Rarely do antizionist jews fall into this category
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s not that they are censoring themselves by saying Zionists. Most of them would call out if someone didn’t make the distinction. But they still hold antisemitic views and think they are different because they say zionist (they are not very different)

There's a clear difference between the people who truly oppose ethnonationalism in all cases, and the people who just want an ethnonationalism of the Other Side, and much of the discourse on Israel-Palestine reveals that.

I don’t like the joint trainings either. Probably some sort of diplomacy + money reasons. Like most of International Relations.
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
Again, they learn it from many sources. But if your gut instinct when you see police violence is to link it with the only Jewish country in the world (that is on the other side of the globe), I think it’s scapegoating, and not seriously facing the problem.
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
Have you considered cops might get drunk on power without the need of trips to Israel, and that racist authoritarian politicians empower them more than some Jews on the other side of the world? Israel doesn’t magically turn people violent.
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
You might as well blame the occupation on the joint trainings with Israel (or with the UK, Panama or all of NATO).
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes, it is me, the guy discussing, citing and reading your articles and not throwing around insults on the internet clearly trying to stifle discussion.
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
No data here. I don’t like the joint trainings either. But police violence is not a problem caused by joint trainings. I wish it was that easy to solve.
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
There are over 1000000 US officers. Around 1000 have trained in Israel. That’s 0.1%. The original post doesn’t simply say “US police officers are trained by Israel” (which would be misleading anyways). It is blaming abuse of power of US police officers (a problem dating back to slavery) on Israel.
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
I’d welcome criticism of Israel. But that wasn’t criticism, that was scapegoating.
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m not saying joint training doesn’t happen. But the article itself says more than 1000. Doesn’t seem high enough for me to blame US police failures on Israel. Is Israel the only country that US police does joint training with?
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
Sure, blame the problems of the most powerful country in the world on the one small Jewish country. Obviously this is not how antisemitism has ever worked. Nazis famously never blamed Jews for the problems Germany created for themselves.

October 7th was a weak attempt at genocide that also attempted (and succeeded) in inciting a non-commensurate response. Attacks are not one sided, look up Hebron Massacre of 1929. Then stop playing your western savior blame game, and start helping bring peace. Sympathy for all victims is a start.

ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
The perpetrator went to a Jewish museum and killed two random people, who happened to be working for the Israeli embassy. Even if it was targeted, how does this help any cause except for more hatred and violence? Think!
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
Also even if his intentions were truthful (probably not), he still killed two innocent people and didn't in any way bring peace.
ariwon.bsky.social (@ariwon.bsky.social) reply parent
Imagine someone killed a couple of drivers while saying Fuck Cars, end Climate Change. And you responded to the news by saying: We should end Climate Change. Is all context lost on you? That would be intentionally ignorant. Context is a big part of speech and semantics.

If anything the galut mentality is being pathologically distrustful of people who are different, which in galut times could be a life-saving and definitely group mantaining habit, but with a State it's just racism.

Ben Shapiro talking about how Jesus didn’t believe in open borders is a bit surreal as a Christian gentile. Let me get this straight. You, a Jewish man, want us to be *less* tolerant? Because we can do that. We’re quite good at it, actually. But I’m not sure if that’s a good idea at all.
