What struck me listening to this is that the very nature of the VAR officials, checking every single thing in every move of every game for 90 minutes, leads to the inevitable insertion of themselves into proceedings. If everything is under the microscope all the time, you'll find something 'wrong'

I think if you're analysing a game, you look at both sides. Full strength Liverpool didn't threaten, except one brilliant free kick. Arsenal without key players didn't threaten. I think there was more we might have done, but I don't agree with a lot of what has been said in the media about this
A consequence of the money people rarely talk about is how it improves the standards of players/coaches at PL clubs, thus making games far more tactical/strategic. Maybe it'll come back around, but the Arsene Wenger just go out and play/express yourselves approach is a thing of the past.

It took a piece of brilliance to win an otherwise pretty even game. Unstoppable free kick. I just think after what was a solid enough first half, we didn't really push on. Second half performance not as good, and maybe we left it too long to make changes. Not a fatal blow, but a blow all the same

Pretty cautious stuff from both teams, I think we've had a bit more threat than them. Noni Madueke probably our most dangerous player in the first 45, but there's barely any service for Gyokeres and Martinelli has been poor on the other side. Feels like a game that Eze could impact significantly.
