Prop 50 is about defending democracy. Republicans already stole seats in Texas without voters having any say. California is doing it differently: we get a one-time shot to fight back, then it reverts to our independent redistricting commission.

I can remember picketing on the 70s outside our town's school board meetings with a sign saying "Give My Mommy a Raise." Her teacher's union pension made my Dad's retirement (she'd passed by then) financially possible.
