When the feds are investigating a "crime" that occurred at a protest and they gather up all the names people so helpfully gave a nonprofit and start asking questions, what do you think happens then, Ike. Wouldn't you rather not have your name on that list? Wouldn't you rather just go to the protest?

There were more than 120 domestic terrorist attacks, in which there were 11 murders, in the United States during the “relative calm” of the 1980s and 1990s. They just all happened to be at abortion clinics, so I guess those don’t count.

For those old enough to remember it: How did America get from the assassinations of the late 1960s and the political violence of the early 1970s to the relative calm of the 1980s and 1990s?

Traffic engineering is such a pseudoscience. The Ballard Bridge traffic study just assumed traffic would exceed capacity by 20% in 2040, which they call "crunch flow," and then worked backwards to a 1.2% annual increase.

2.2.3. Future (Year 2040) Traffic Volumes Improvement options for the Ballard Bridge were compared for future year 2040 conditions. Year 2040 traffic volumes for the No Build (No Improvement) condition were estimated based on the capacity of the Ballard Bridge, which is estimated to be 2,800 vehicles per direction at the posted travel speed.5 Future volumes could exceed the capacity with crunch flow at a volume-to-capacity (v/c) ratio of about 1.2, which is a peak-direction volume of about 3,360 per hour. For the PM peak hour, the growth in northbound traffic from the existing 2,620 vehicles per hour to 3,360 vehicles per hour would reflect a compound growth rate of 1.2% per year, higher than the historic growth rate described previously, which has been less than 0.1% per year. Reverse direction traffic was also assumed to increase by 1.2% per year, which would reflect a traffic volume of 2,580 in the PM peak hour’s southbound direction.

Chances are there are several groups helping vulnerable immigrants in your area. I can guarantee you will feel better about yourself and the situation in general if you begin volunteering to help them. You are not helpless. Evil is not inevitable. And it is deeply satisfying to stymy its plans.

Weirdly, there are a slew of other conceivable reasons to resent and distrust "AI" as it manifests, but stick with "eggheads in labs doing things we don't understand."

Everyone happy about the sandwich guy not getting indicted has to agree to not try to duck jury duty the next time their name comes up. It's one of the few ways you as a random citizen can say "no, this is not justice" in our system. (Do not tell the court you know about jury nullification)

I can't find it but I thought there was already a news cycle about an augmented glasses product that were helping people with vision impairment until the private company decided to pull support for the tech (like they always do) and left all the users blind. Did this not already happen?

Okay. You know what, even before I engaged for some reason with a random comment, I didn't disagree with this. I just didn't think it fully accounts for the mass shooting phenomenon in the US. But taking the NRA into account, I guess you can lay it at their feet.

Sure does. But it also wasn't due to decades of blah blah blah. You'll need to make a better argument.
