There are some interesting results in the paper that try to get at these channels, suggesting a temporary reduction in resale prices, perhaps caused by a quick drop in housing demand, later shifting to price increases as supply constraints begin to dominate

It's a good question. They have every incentive to exaggerate these numbers to be consistent with their goals but so far they don't seem to be doing that. And also for previous months at least these data are generally consistent with separate data ICE has been forced to release

1/3 of BLS leadership positions are currently vacant. Field offices around the country are closing due to staff shortages. They fired the advisory council that was assessing how to increase survey response rates. These are not actions you take if you actually want to improve the data.

interesting new research on the long-run effects of the 1967-1968 US minimum wage the policy increased the income of parents, and their young kids were more likely to go to college and graduate, as well as to earn higher incomes later in life. older kids were less affected.

There is not a sudden explosion of the US born population. Instead the Jan 2025 population benchmarks are outdated: Trump is shrinking the immigrant population. The predetermined total population estimate, and a falling immigrant population, artificially increases the estimated US born population
