Why are we throwing money away on fossil fuels when endless (and obvious) renewable energy is here for the taking? Let's stop letting the oil barons rob us.
Beth Frieden (@bethfrieden.bsky.social) reply parent
Haha nah save the solar for roof space! Every non-listed building as standard plz! So inefficient to have them on the ground. 100% reclaim the golf courses though, a win-win solution.
Beth Frieden (@bethfrieden.bsky.social)
Scottish Councils demanding that trans children out themselves to their classmates is obviously institutional transphobic abuse, and schools should absolutely refuse to comply. The obsession with policing children's bodies is disturbing.
Beth Frieden (@bethfrieden.bsky.social)
Hell yeah. Honestly, if you don't want this, you are just in favour of children being killed in traffic, and you need to own that.

This is so true. We also MUST reduce the size of cars. Huge, heavy cars cause more death and harm when they crash. The benefit to society far, far outweighs the temporary comfort for the richest.
Beth Frieden (@bethfrieden.bsky.social)
Lol I laughed because I am in Glasgow. Any other Scottish listeners do a sorta double take there?

It's so infuriatingly unfair. I read that article this morning and thought it was really shoddy, really not enough. The whole thing would have needed to be basically what you just wrote in order to fact check the dudes quoted. And they just didn't bother. What is the function of this coverage??
Beth Frieden (@bethfrieden.bsky.social)
Exactly. It's 100% about trying to avoid pissing off any possible rich person. Which like, why? What's the point of you?
Beth Frieden (@bethfrieden.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes! I couldn't sleep one night early in high school and found my parents watching Monty Python, and then spent the rest of high school trying to get my classmates to watch it, with mixed success.

'That annoying Beep Beep Beep is the ire of many city dwellers' I'll tell you what is annoying: the 7,500 hit-and-runs by cars recorded annually in London. This trumps my concerns about the sounds made by bikes used by kids who lack access to bikes.
Beth Frieden (@bethfrieden.bsky.social) reply parent
There was a babysitter incident when we were kids where she had great taste and very little common sense and showed us The Princess Bride early enough that we were apparently terrified of the six fingered man. TPB is one of my top five films now so this is hilarious to me.

Peter, I love your work, why would you say this about artists, this is such a weird ahistorical take. Artists are workers, some art is abstract and loads of it isn't. Is contrapoints an artist? Even if she is, there's just no need to tar us all with the same brush like that.

We use our cargo bike for everything but we're only able to have one because our flat came with a garage and we can store it safely overnight. This is THE big obstacle where we live in Glasgow. It's a chicken and egg problem where we need alternative cycle hoops put in before people can switch.

Yeah I am sure it's super old fashioned. I read Anne of Green Gables to my daughter recently (she is 6) and it went surprisingly well, so I am hoping to get her used to enjoying a variety of registers. Some of the older children's novels hold up better than others though!
