Messing around with some water-soluble oil this weekend. Kept the subject matter very self-indulgent and familiar 😀 The painting on the left was from yesterday, and I already see so many ways I could improve!

I’d consider this a plein air/studio hybrid :D I did about 90% on location and polished it up back at home. I think the flowy, organic rocks shapes definitely lend an element of abstraction! Idk though, the location looks pretty nuts in-person!

Some plein air/studio hybrid pieces from a recent trip to Vancouver island. Trying to work bigger on-site (10x12 in) and get these as finished as possible before that final polish in the studio. Sometimes I need to sit with these for a bit before something 'clicks' into place.

Two of my paintings won in the June 2025 PleinAir Magazine salon competition! I won best artist under 40 with “Valley from on high” and “the view from balancing rock” got an honourable mention in the Plein Air acrylic and gouache category!

Here are a few of my favourite layouts/shots from the movie! We had over 530 bg’s and I drew and coloured them all.
I’m super proud of our tiny crew. We had 1 director(who also also did writing, Char design, rigging, comp/FX), 1 modeller, 1 story artist, 1 TD, 1 BG artist/color designer (me) and 9 animators for an 85 min movie. It took us a little over two years to make.
Today I did a big bike achievement and made it up the highest mountain pass in BC. It was 90km round trip and over 1200m of climbing. I’m super proud of myself!!

Yeah! I dug it all out and laid down a bit of new soil and compost. It was a pretty sad, patchy lawn before- I'm super jealous of ppl who have grass lawns that harbor a lot of clover/yarrow/other wildflowers. I'd still love to see yours if you ever post any pictures!
