When the person presented their Real ID license, an agent said that wasn't sufficient. Luckily they had secondary ID.

Tense scene out here. People booing and shaming unidentified federal law enforcement as they stand in the middle of the street, posted to pull people over for random checks.
to even get on the 40 I have to drive my car four miles. because they eliminated all my neighborhood's bus service.
the only actual choke points are the Fremont Bridge (which the bus lanes don't help with) and the left turn at 9th Ave N (where the bus has to leave the bus lane anyway). there were already bus lanes through SLU where they actually make sense.
the 40 was just as fast before the bus lanes on Westlake. I am a 40 rider and still don't like them. and my trips to the kayak launch got way slower.

The same is basically true of, say, web services. The individual cost of a query to a web service is extremely low. But they still necessitated the construction of huge data centers, even before AI. The reason it's profitable is cloud providers are an oligopoly.

that probably IS true. but like... Blackrock doesn't own any housing in my neighborhood, and my homeowner neighbors are VERY active in lobbying against any zoning changes in the area. so is my mom in her neighborhood (sigh)
the link between someone owning 1000+ units and a housing shortage is very unclear. the units are rented out. if small landlords owned them instead, you'd have the same number of units! being mad about asset concentration is reasonable, but it's not the same thing as a shortage.
