Even if coffee beans were 4x the price. It would not make a dent in the price of a cup of coffee. Raw material accounts for only 5% of what you’re charged. Most goes to Overhead and profits at every step of the supply chain.

Only in the US Taco Bell barely qualifies as food.

Have you looked into the cost of CO2 in the atmosphere? It’s in the trillions. Just that the ones profiting from using CO2 pass it onto the society. Almost no company that emits CO2 in their operations would be profitable if they had to pay the cost of pollution. BTW, it should be Ok to break even

Have they tried recycling gas? Last I checked the waste is all around us and heating the planet
blinpa.bsky.social (@blinpa.bsky.social) reply parent
Cutting costs is the important part since capitalism does not care about the planet. If it had been only 0.0001% more expensive, this would be unacceptable and likely not to be used.

Its not. Anti-abortion is all about control of womens bodies while anti-vax is about validating misinformation as science. Once trust in science is degraded enough, only the leadership’s voice is truth.

Dont forget that Datacenters have been pushing demand up while getting wholesale price on their use. Offsetting the added costs towards residential consumers…. As always, companies privatize gains and socialize costs.

That is very common in most poor food exporting countries. Best beef in Argentina is exported, Quinoa in peru has gone from being a staple in rural communities diet to a luxury because of Americans obsession with super-foods

Guns are not capable of suffering… but their purpose is to inflict suffering onto humans. Except for hunting rifles that do it to other animals… still their purpose remains to inflict suffering.

The irony

Its easier to buy a gun than to get some books in a library.

Should we layoff Soldiers in-between missions? How about any engineering position between projects? Or maybe teachers for the summer
blinpa.bsky.social (@blinpa.bsky.social) reply parent
Any job is project related. You retain employees in between projects, this is baked into the operations and OH costs.

I mentioned that I completely disagree with how this revenue is used or even generated. Even privately funded universities should be non-profit. Their aim should be to provide education and research, anything else is just gravy. But what do I know, the US doesn’t even treat healthcare as a right.

Wile I disagree with the ridiculous ammount of money that are involved in college football while the athletes that make it happen get almost nothing. The coaches and directors of the teams make their money from Media rights, sponsorships, merchandise and ticket sales.

The savings to the insured in one year alone would be so astronomically high that it would easily pay for every non executive insurance employee to receive 80% of their salary for 5 years plus a full 4year scholarship for a state college. It is a matter of willing to take profits out of healthcare

Quebec in Canada gets 98% of renewables and constantly sells power to NY. We only get very short term blackouts when the lines freeze up not for lack of power.

Im a french trained former chef. And im Taz. But I can cook a 4 course dinner in one hour. My wife cleans so much as she goes and cooks simple stuff in the same time. Miss having a guy to just give the dirties…

What many times is missed in the discussion between publicly funded healthcare vs private. Is that in the publicly funded one, all decisions by the directors are made towards improving the health outcomes of the population while with private, it is towards how much profits are generated.
blinpa.bsky.social (@blinpa.bsky.social) reply parent
Its insane. Innovation and scientific investment is one of the reasons that the US became so wealthy… now they are intentionally dropping the ball and letting China take over.
blinpa.bsky.social (@blinpa.bsky.social) reply parent
I read a cost analysis. And having a single payer system would save Americans so much money, that all of the current non-executive insurance employees could retain their salaries without working and still have insane savings. Just that change, everything else remains for profit.

That is the whole point. They have kids with the power of a nuke but through acceptance and belonging to a healthy community they learn to use their powers for the betterment of humanity. While his antagonist, Magneto, shows what happens when hatred and division is used instead.

As I said, Im with you that they are awful. But sometimes we have to pick the lesser evil … And that is a big problem with 2 party systems. Yo end up voting for the one you dislike the least.
blinpa.bsky.social (@blinpa.bsky.social) reply parent
Agree that he is clearly eyeing the oval office. But lets not make same mistakes as the past… not voting is akin to giving the worse party your vote. Same happened with Kamala , and as much as I dislike institutional democrats, they would have been much much better than what happened

If the people understood the principles pf science they would see past bs. If they developed empathy they would not vote for nationalists since “that doesn’t affect me” mentality would not be a good excuse. If they developed critical thinking they would see past propaganda.

You are correct that sometimes they get the prediction wrong. But overall it helps to lower hospital admissions by 30-40%. Saving millions worth of treatment and keeping ERs available for other people. Not even talking about lives saved since that doesn’t seem to matter anymore
