Funny enough, I worked on the design of Windscale pond 5 back in the 70s as a junior draughtsman. It was OK when I left it 😜. I think nuclear has a place in the short term until renewables take over. It's a necessary evil. UK has dithered about renewables for too long.

What's the alternative? Kick it down the road? Import energy? UK has lost the expertise in nuclear, so the first new one will be expensive due to a need for technology transfer. In France they kept their industry going and now have very cheap electricity, and expertise.

All of the solutions to the problems are really simple. Global Warming, build Solar/Wind Energy which is 8x cheaper. Housing, build Social Housing. Immigration, stop bombing 3rd world countries, aid them instead. They just don't want to do them so they call them complex.

We couldn't afford to put my Dad into a home in the UK, so we adapted his home the best we could. I've just priced it up for my father in law who lives in California and it's half the price of the UK for much better care. Something has gone seriously wrong there. 6th largest economy in the world.

You are so lucky that you have a written constitution. In the UK, which operates on a boy's club nudge nudge wink wink system, they removed the citizenship of a british born minor who was trafficked abroad. The brits don't seem to give a sh*t It can happen anywhere. Shocking.

Nothing is ever cleared up in the UK. 6th largest economy in the world but somehow can't look after old and sick people unlike other nations with smaller economies. Why is that?

There are an awful lot of injustices that the British govmt, doesn't address. Top o my head they are: Hillsborough Grenfell Waspi women Frozen state pensions Post Office Anyone ever jailed for these? When Menendez was killed was anyone sacked? Just business as usual from a callous state.
