The NYC subway system is installing new emergency gates (to exit platforms) that are "delayed egress." There's a 15-second (!) delay to open the gate. This seems nutz to me. The main problem I forsee is people panicking and piling up at the door during a smoke condition, fire, or flooding.

yes, when i "locked in" my pricing in 2017-2018, they were all available & they'd just livestreamed 3-4 shows, implying many more to come. i think it's more they gave up rather than it eating into tickets. those were all at small sold out gigs (& one big one) & they never tried again post lockdown.

i have definitely been known to bring more books than the amount of vacation days, depending on destination & type of book. i'm still almost entirely an analog book reader but the prospect of being able to get ebooks if i run out has soothed me just the tiniest bit.
