I don't think so, but maybe they remember the shape of my car or the fact that I don't get out of my car. Do I wish they loved me as much as l love them? Sure, but I will accept any kind of interaction. It's what makes burrowing owls so special to me.
Wendy Miller (@burrowingowl.bsky.social) reply parent
I really think it's these particular parents that gave their kids permission! Last year, they had their clutch really late in the season and one of the kids would always come running up to my car when he saw me. I had a great time with the family last year, but nothing like this year.

I will probably never have an experience like this again in my lifetime, so I will always treasure my summer with this family of burrowing owls. 💕🪶

Monday morning: Owlgernon had a job interview at the General Owl Bank, Athena & Butts. The bosses attached immense importance to a salubrious outer appearance, and emphasized excellent manners. It was rather bad luck Owlgie overslept a bit and forgot to brush his noggin feathers.

Owlexander had learned the hard way it was not advisable to laugh at Mom: The last time he did so had resulted in a painful reduction of his pocket money, which had made it impossible for him to acquire the latest Superowl figurine. Laughing behind her back, however, seemed quite safe.

Nobody told Dad to his face he was a bad singer. Not even Owlexander! So if Dad felt like singing (which was regrettably often the case) he blurted out whatever came to mind. It was mostly minimalistic and quite eerie. And while his kids were running for safety, Dad solemnly bowed to his audience.
