Honestly, I’ve gotten so tired of the “realistic=dark/gritty” thing. I mean—sure—the world CAN be bad, people CAN be bad. Very often, both are true. It just feels like most authors that take realism in that way forget that people can also be kind and good. It’s so disheartening to see.

Not at all! The main thing that caught me by surprise was the time it took to do each step (shredding, blending into a pulp, forming the sheets) so my first batch was way over zealous so I'd recommend starting small, but overall it's simple and surprisingly relaxing.
