It's the quest aspect that bothers me the most. It probably means Bagpuss & friends will be accompanied by at least one plucky kid on their journey, and despite what the still photos show in the original series - Emily hugging her beloved soft toy - there are never any humans around when he's awake.

I'm being unduly harsh. It could be a beautiful thing that genuinely resonates with old and new viewers alike. I remember everyone being terrified by the first image of the modern Paddington, yet it all worked out rather nicely, in the end.
He's practically narcoleptic, so he'll be crashing out at the worst possible moments. Imagine getting in a car with him & he starts yawning. There'll be nobody at the wheel after he closes his eyes. And those poor mice! They'll have to lug the mouse organ around with them in case he falls asleep.

She might enjoy The Craft (1996), a tale about teenage witches, but it's definitely not a comedy.
Don't know where you stand on gore (some of those are quite brutal) and there's a couple that probably require an understanding of the horror genre to work properly (Tucker & Dale, The Final Girls, Cabin in the Woods) but all the films on that list provide smiles while avoiding unrelenting darkness.

I became a fan of George MacKay immediately following an early screening at the Barbican of Paul Wright's superb FOR THOSE IN PERIL (2014). With its haunted fishing community and flashes of coastal folklore, Jenkins's film sounds like something of a companion piece for sure, sign me up..!
