Time and time again they show themselves. I've been part of a number of attempts to expose this stuff in Westminster and every time it was met with a belligerence that this is just what happens. It's. Not Fucking. Normal.
There are some who will continue to lecture you about your obligation to support Labour, citing our electoral system or a poll in some marginal seat or another. They will posture as if sagely pontificating on the way of the world, when what they are actually doing is bartering for their own souls.

I used to manage Select Committee inquiries - which are much snappier (if more toothless) affairs - and I can tell you that whatever the framework and codes of conduct so much hinges on the personnel involved and who's in the chair
Because while an inquiry is ongoing all they can say is "we will wait to see the findings" and those findings have been known to take over 10 years
There really needs to be an overhaul of how public inquiries are conducted as well. I've always had misgivings about them for lots of reasons not least that it's always in the govt's interest that they take as long as possible
