I am a high school teacher and I would give my right arm for kids to have to lock up their phones on the way in to school. It’s a distraction to such a huge degree that I can’t even explain it. Every kid, every class, every day. The phones need to go!!!
Yes! Ignore what your spirit is telling you (this is wrong! It hurts!) and laugh along with those who are hurting you? No thank you. I have tried really hard to raise my children differently. I tell them they don’t even have to “be nice” if what is happening is wrong or feels off.
It really troubled me. People would tell me to “get tougher” but how do you do that? It was really confusing to me because I had my mom telling me they were saying those things (tease, I react, then “too sensitive”)because they loved me and it did not feel like love in any kind of way.

I’m a high school teacher (Social Studies), and I know my English colleagues are very, very frustrated. We are trying to teach these kids how to think and how to express their opinions, and they are trying to outsource all that at every opportunity.
