We are filing a request for a preliminary injunction to block the extension of soldiers’ deployment in Los Angeles through Election Day. There was never a need — and there is certainly no need now — for troops to be deployed against their own communities.
What we’re witnessing in this country is textbook authoritarianism. Trump thrives on targeting those who are least able to defend themselves, exerting control and cruelty to tighten his grip on power. To think it ends here is naive. We cannot let this go on any further.
