Fact: Rupert Murdoch, through his media empire, has been a prominent and public advocate for less media regulation. His company, News Corp, benefited greatly from the deregulation that occurred in the 1990s and 2000s, which is why he became a lightning rod for critics of media deregulation.
Not sure if it's obvious how bananas this is. The usual tariff argument is that it helps producers and hurts consumers (by more). But Trump's tariffs don't even help (most) producers. It's genuinely difficult to design a tariff regime that helps less than 4% of manufacturers!
