Just a small gap on the one. I have to head to work, so Hubs says he’ll call and take Dusty in if needed. Awesome, love you, you’re a great doggie co-parent. Vet laughs and says if no sign of infection and nothing poking out, just keep an eye on it and bring him in if status changes. /9
Dustin Rhodes Batson, little craphead extraordinaire, has managed to chew out his own stitches. At his point I wonder if I should turn my morning coffee into an Irish coffee. And the vet’s office doesn’t open for over an hour. But no signs of infection and most of the incisions are healed. /8
I stumble out about an hour later and say hi to all my babies while getting my coffee. Hubs helps me separate pups so we can do wound check… And there are no signs of infection, oozing, redness, swelling. There’s also no sign of any stitches. Like they’re gone. No black thread at all. NONE. /7
So we put him in a body suit, nice and snug and velcroed down and allow him to sleep out of kennel on Sunday night. Suit > cone when multiple dogs (at least in our house). Hubs is up first Monday morning, as usual. Takes off suit and feeds all the little monsters. /6
And he’s running near full speed. It he does have a bit of a hitch in him a giddy up. So he comes back inside without much issue and snuggles up on the couch. Whew. We try our best Saturday and Sunday to keep him calm but I’m beginning to believe his damn near impervious to pain. /5
You see, 22 lbs of mutt on a mission is determined. I wasn’t prepared for full speed yet. And off he goes under my hands and out the doggie door to wrestle with his sisters. The boy has 2 sets of stitches in his groin/along his pubis bone. /4
Thursday, no issues. Vet gives a 24 hr pain shot, so he was fiiine. Friday morning and afternoon, he’s still okay to be in his kennel sleeping it off. Then I get home from work Friday night and go to take him on leash for a potty break. And little craphead emerges. /3
All the girl dogs are spayed so we were careful on walks and outings and we own no pupport payments on his behalf. So we knew it wasn’t going to be a simple, basic neuter and planned accordingly. Working against us was l’il dude is still essentially a true puppy. Estimated bday is May 4, 2024. /2
These pics are from Thursday afternoon. Hubs sent them to me after the boy pup got neutered. We adopted him back on April 19. But the vet couldn’t get him scheduled until now. Small town, one vet, vacations coming, and only one descended testicle (dog, vet is an amazing woman). /1
