It's the birthday of one of the all-time great comic book artists, Gene Colan. From Howard the Duck to Dr. Strange, Tomb of Dracula to Daredevil (and so many more), his art was moody and cinematic and his characters were always expressive and deeply human. A master.

I’m beyond thrilled to see that there’ll finally be an official collection of Alex Toth’s DC superhero work but (and don’t get me wrong, I love Curt Swan as much as the next guy) can we get rid of the paste-up & show Superman how Toth drew him? Say what you will about the 2011 GREEN LANTERN movie, but their solution to Hal’s costume (which has always been essentially green light in the shape of a suit) WAS pretty ingenious.

We watched CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER for family movie night this past weekend. Still such a great, fun movie— gave me the itch to draw Cap again :) Hard to believe we first heard Steve Rogers say “I can do this all day” all the way back in 2011!
