More importantly, he was not immediately informed that he was being arrested until pressed, and at no point was he informed of his Miranda rights until he had already been handcuffed, told he was arrested and put in the vehicle. Only at the prompting from his father did they inform him offhandedly.
He didn't go there with pre-knowledge or "intent to conspire" with an "unknown" protester to impede ICE. ICE was the aggressor & maybe triggered a PTSD response. Veterans with diagnosed PTSD or other service-related conditions might use these as mitigating factors in legal defenses.
