I remember early November 2023. I think I was the first person on US mainstream media, while at MSNBC/Peacock, to say the G-word on TV. On my show. It was seen as hugely controversial then. It's controversial no longer. It's undeniable, irrefutable, the consensus view.

Here is the part NOBODY ever gets about bail reform: Pretrial incarceration causes MORE CRIME than cash bail prevents WHY? Because arrest and pretrial incarceration put people in crisis, even when they are innocent they lose jobs, and can't support their families...it creates massive insecurity

not just that he has no constitutional authority, there isn't even any particular legal or institutional mechanism by which the president can make anyone treat this as anything other than a weird advisory opinion.
This is an unconstitutional and authoritarian power grab. The constitution grants power over federal elections to the states and Congress - not the president.
