I'm on campus at work, so had to call my teenager to get him to feed the kittens. Then I had to walk him through how to shove a tiny bit of food in Rudania's mouth so she remembers what food is and why she wants it. Very proud of him for touching the chicken mush!
I’m so sorry. Trying to get my son’s MRI quickly through United was infuriating. Then I spent 30min on the phone this morning getting passed around trying to get info from their speciality pharmacy.

When a storm comes through, it’s crazy to listen to the county public safety scanner. There’s so many “Caller sees flames on the hillside” reports that they deal with all night.
A couple rainy, overcast days help a lot, but storms are just stressful.
I can only speak from Montana experience, but most convective storms during this time of year spark more fires than they help control. The lightning field is always bigger than the rain, and the rain is usually fast and not necessary after the lightning.
She just has a very broad definition of “lap”
This is partially why I switched to paper plates for both our family cat and the fosters. Keeping up with wet food dishes was more than I could do easily, and we already have compost pickup that I could just toss them into!
Is the problem the Not Evil or the No Money part? Because one is very solvable via the magic of the internet.

If I keep any, I don’t get to foster more! So, I just love them while I have them and send them on to new families. These are probably the 70-75th kittens we’ve fostered over the years!
Well, they’ll be available for adoption in about 2 weeks at the Humane Society of Western Montana!

I managed to get them to the plates by getting them to chase an empty syringe and putting the plates on a tiny raised tray. Still supplemented with Tiki Thrive at the end, because they’re not very good at it and easily discouraged.

He also is the one who is slowest to catch onto eating food. He likes when the food jumps in his mouth during syringe-feeding, but isn’t a fan of having to get the food from the plate into his mouth on his own.

Someone posted a video of a pelican trying to eat their bike, or at least investigating it with their goofy giant mouth, and it reminded me of the pelican & baby capybara video. Everyone should see it at least once!

I was literally just wondering how fast I could mobilize with a Bluetooth speaker and a sign to follow them around downtown with. We’ve had those atomwaffen-mask-wearing creeps wander aimlessly before.
The only one who kept eating without constant encouragement was Naboris, and Rudania didn’t quite get it yet, but I’ll try again in a couple hours.

So we’re running computers using MacOS, Windows 10, Windows 11, Ubuntu, and Mint Linux. Variety is the spice of life?
The computer situation in this 5 person family is a little comical at this point. This photo doesn’t include the 3 additional work laptops between us and the various personal desktops.
My youngest is a teenager, but we still have a few cloth diapers that are excellent for extremely gross cleanups. And I feel zero guilt tossing them if it’s Just Too Gross after.

We’ve actually been trying to find a non-sparkling, non-artificial-sugar, non-tea-based sweet caffeinated drink for my middle that he could drink during the afternoon for when his ADHD meds are wearing off, but he has 2 more classes to survive.
It’s interesting to me that none of my kids (youngest is 14) really like soda. Oldest will drink it if it’s flat, middle is a solid No, and the youngest only likes Izze/sparkling juice. They all consider lemonade universally superior.

I’ve stopped using ride shares completely and just use cabs, but I wouldn’t get into any car that didn’t know my name (“who are you here to pickup?”) You have me curious now though!
I’m trying to figure out what the benefit would be. Maybe they would have you pay outside of the app via Venmo or something? It lets them try to pickup multiple people from one “reservation” because white corollas are so common?
Some of them, we always put on long sleeves before entering the kitten room! And not because they’re angry, usually because humans are very fun and exciting and they want attention NOW.

Kittens grow so fast! These chonkers are putting on 15-35g a day, still exclusively nursing. What’s extra interesting to me is that yesterday, when I showed them Mama’s wet food, they were completely oblivious. Today, it’s sniffs and paw touches. Soon, all the meat!
