I've spent nine months playing almost exclusively (Waveless) Nimrod Galactus in #MarvelSnap, but for some reason the Shang Chi nerf made me remember my good spooky boy, Werewolf By Night... and this deck kinda cooks? It's fun and and seems to catch people by surprise, at least.

Yep, character limit. π
Tracking is an attribute of strings, kerning is an attribute of (pairs of) letters. Now I'm curious how kerning is set at the font level. Does each letter get a left and right value? Are there special exceptions (like "fl")? (Dangerously close to flirting with a new hobby)
Dan Johnson (@coil.bsky.social) reply parent
I get it! So one *could* say "the kerning on this text is bad", but it would mean there are multiple pairs of poorly-spaced letters (either manually placed by a UI designer or poorly set by a font creator). But tracking is a document-wide attribute: if it's wrong anywhere, it's wrong everywhere.
Dan Johnson (@coil.bsky.social) reply parent
TIL, and please forgive my attempt to fully understand: You say "uniform spacing", but in a variable-width font, isn't spacing not necessarily uniform? Eg between the F and T in "left". If I want to say that the spacing between letters in a font, or in a text string, is off - which word is that?

I may be conflating or misremembering anim cancelling and recovery frames, and there is of course a spectrum and many exceptions. Broadly speaking, I mean the idea of committing to a relatively slow action, and the combat design being clear and predictable enough to make that commitment.

Random thought: most Souls games, with (usually) slow movement and uncancelable attack animations, focus on single-enemy combat. Two is a zoning challenge (Godskin Duo, Ornstein & Smough), 3+ (Commander Niall, Lautrec) is chaotic. But adds/projectiles are pretty common in Metroids.
