A kind update that they said for me to put the basket back outside on the porch and they'd bring a replacement with all pet safe plants π
thank you π i've been telling myself she's just outside laying in the sun getting to soak it all up as much as she wants now
He did ask them not to put any lillies in it and he's calling them about it while i go carefully remove them outside with gloves, just before anyone panics about seeing them

Yeah, there were a lot I knew to expect but I know it's gonna be a while of something little sneaking up on me until I can focus more on the happier things I remember about her
π«π I know this time it's not going to hurt so bad for as long because she seemed so at peace and it felt like she was genuinely just waiting for us to be ready but it's going to be so weird adjusting to life without a dog
Yeah, we knew since last Oct it was only a matter of time and looking back so much of her behavior changed, realizing the last week the only times she ate was when I'd start crying and wondering if she was doing it for me until I was ready to say goodbye is rough
I think my brain just forgot what it's like to say goodbye to a pet that didn't have what felt like an unfair end like the boys did, that it was still gonna hurt like hell after
I knew the morning after when the shock wore off it was gonna suck even though I genuinely felt like we made the right call at the right time and she was such a quiet dog but I did not anticipate all the little things I was going to notice that became such a daily routine that would hit me bad
I wanna hug back but I don't wanna pop your stitches π
Collecting all the bits of fur that we pet off her to roll into a ball to save because it's the last thing she left. And the crumbs of her favorite treat I tried offering to her that she didn't want still there by the patio door
Realizing I could put the extra cat food in the empty shelf where her food was. Looking in the yard to see if she was ready to come in. The bag of unopened treats below all the meds with her name on them. The umbrella still open in the yard that I got out so she could lay in the sun one last time.
It felt weird waking up and not laying there to listen for her collar to know if I needed to get up instantly or could wait. Going back into my room to grab my water bottle not worried I'd wake her up. Moving the unused peepads and putting a cat house in the empty space. Watching the stairs for her.

Yuzu and Mochi were both there when it happened and gave her a goodbye sniff, Power didn't come down but I think she knows because she jumped in my lap after when I went to my office π«π

its nice knowing how much you, and others loved seeing them, it honestly makes me feel less like we're alone in our grief and i wish you could have too, if her anxiety hadn't been so bad the past few years it would've been different
I'll miss when she'd excessively lick the sheets, when she felt silly and she'd wiggle around on the bed and we'd chant 'OOOOO SHES WORMIN'. I know she went to join her brothers and she'll be back here haunting me soon enough. I promise I'll plant that bush I bought for you baby girl, I love you.
Her favorite things were basking in the sun until we had to practically drag her inside, harassing her siblings, and being where ever I was in the house, my perpetual anxious shadow. I'm going to miss her screaming in excitement when I come home, her little spins she'd do.
Almost 15 years ago I had to decide between building a pc to play ffxiv or getting another dog. I chose Sawako. Shes the reason I go by the name Shiba online, my prior username being apanickyshiba as a joke because she was so scared of everything and fussy.
She's been at my side all morning even sitting next to me while I cleaned up a bad overnight mess and I'm sure she just wants treats but I appreciate her little eggplant shaped self

I feel like the cats have been being extra silly because @greyull.com insists they're very empathetic and can tell how sad I've been because Sawako isn't doing so hot and I'm so thankful to have a little gaggle of weirdos managing to make me laugh
