One of two franchises showing you never go into space with the Cartwright sisters. Angela ended up lost in space with a creepy doctor who was a little to friendly with her little brother. Veronica ended up being Alien bait.

About a "Robot Wars" Foundation spin-off David S. Goyer: "So I thought maybe another interesting way to do it would be to do it as like a six-episode miniseries that happens in between two of the larger seasons of "Foundation." So just drop it right in between. But who knows if that will..."

The opening intro theme of Space: 1999 is so iconic for its mix of the 70s disco and the Italian influences of the production. I love how they open with the "This Episode" montage and theb go to the reminder of how they got here in the first place youtu.be/4SpX8bVEmJo?...
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
It would have been a lot more dramatic. If she'd decanted Dawn and Day, then Darkness would have had to murder two others in some gruesome fashion. Though I don't know how they could beat all the body parts falling

I like how they've started bridging to the ancient history of the Butlerian Jihad. I have mixed opinions on the direction Brian Herbert went with it in his books, but still good to see more of the world building.

He's so craven. He started out in his career trying to pretend to be a moderate, and then he moderated himself right into being just another toadie.

My guess is she was waiting for Dusk's ceremony. By then she also didn't know that Day was still alive, so it'd be all three she'd have to do at once

I agree that it looked good, but the actual story compared to the original or the 1970s remake was forgettable

Too much denim. He looks like he's doing some one man prison play
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
They should have tried that with Tasha. Having zombie Tasha in the second season could have been interesting
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
There's also the whole thing from the previous season where Dawn ran off with the woman he knocked up from Cloud Dominion. Whatever happened to that thread? Mule 2 was an interesting twist. In the books, he was the musician.
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah I had the same thought. She should have been fast enough. There must have been something about the beam that stopped her

I know, too early for Halloween movies, but as today is Sam Neill's birthday, I'm reminded of Daybreakers, where he played a pretty good vampire alongside Ethan Hawke and Willem Defoe

Of course, this is immediately what came to mind

Yeah, he's probably like Louise Fletcher, who seemed really nice, but always played evil people like Nurse Ratched and Kai Winn.

So I want to run through what I think the sequence of events is for SNW S3 because what is actually happening is super fuzzy. Trelane says that Korby was digging on the old home world, Vadia IX. As ‘John de Lancie’ played his dad, that means it was the world of the Q before they fully ascended. 1/8
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
I think you're reasoning is sound. I don't have confidence that the people running SNW were thinking that many moves ahead, though, and they seem more interested in coming up with something new rather than tying it to existing canon.

I don’t know whether or not the actor who plays Desmond Hart is nice or not in real life, but I feel kinda bad for him as he’s getting typecast as an asshole who’s jealous of the power of strong women. He played the same role in Raised by Wolves
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
It should have the docking ports on the underside of the saucer that are covered by doors. That’s the airlock that Kirk and Soock used in TMP, and they had those round docking ports

I was hoping more people would respond to my lame Mission Impossible joke in yesterday's post about the 50th anniversary of Space: 1999. I'd made this MI:1999 mashup, hoping to explain how Rollin and Cinnamon ended up on the moon, but didn't have a reason to post it. Nevertheless, here it is.

I lived in UT for about 15 years for my husband and job. I saw some extremely abhorrent behavior there, including the time when a state rep got a standing ovation from his fellow lawmakers when he confessed to being naked in a hot tub with a 15 year old girl and paying her 150k to keep it secret

I also thought it was interesting that STII had the NCOs in completely different uniforms, going along with Meyer's more millitaristic vision of Starfleet
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
I remember seeing something back in the day that suggested Tucker was supposed to be a LtCdr, but then they never had the insignia for it
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
I thing TNG especially had an assumption, again by Rodenberry, that most of the crew were some sort of degreed professionals, so there were no traditional enlisted until Worf's father mentioned that he was a CPO like O'Brien
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social)
Feeling your vibe from across the room.
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah and I think that was because Roddenberry envisioned just three rank levels: captain, lt, and crew
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah that's been pretty common throughout Star Trek, as have rank insignia issues 🤣 They've also accidently called LtCdrs lieutenant, which is not correct. I think that happened to both Troi and Data in the pilot
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
And i won't mention how some sources including IDW say Chapel is a LtCdr 🤣
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
I saw some other suggestion that it was more about position than rank, and that could be it
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah I'm trying to ignore it too! 🤣
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social)
La'an and Spock both have 1 and 1/2 stripes, and they're LTs. Une has 2 full stripes, and she's a LtCdr. Pelia has 1 and 1/2 stripes and she's a Commander. This rank system makes no sense! Tell me they're just making fun of when Spock had 2 full stripes on TOS and was a LtCdr!

Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
I would totally do this, and it's why I don't have children 🤣
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, and it could have explained how people heard about the Iconians in the first place
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
I got into it after Pushing Daisies. It would have been neat if they'd had the planned cross over where the Reapers start to realize there's someone cheating them out of their charges.
Commodore Joseph (@commodorable.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, that even the whole place was set up by the Iconians, and that's why there's all this trans dimensional stuff.
