Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game. The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

Why senior developers never write "clever" code. Clever code is hard to read. Hard to debug. Impossible to maintain. Your goal isn't to look smart. It's to write simple, boring code that just works. #Buildinpublic

You are not writing code just for yourself, but for the whole dev team to read. If you have a problem with that, talk to your dev hiring manager.

To artficially pad a game, instead of creating more real content, which takes away from company profits (have to pay the devs more for the extra content they're creating) is disrespecting their customers, disrespecting their recreational time.
Cosmic Cleric (@cosmiccleric.bsky.social) reply parent
"Respect your time" is used to describe a company who designs their game to fit their metrics padding 'time to kill' to slow down the player, vs designing the game to be fun and challenge the player, regardless of how much dev time is needed to create a game with enough hours to be worth the price.
