It is one approach! It's not even a bad one, you get predictable results..! My wife's tendency is not to make the same thing twice*, which is... not my approach. "We should make that again, it was great!" "Well..." *except the sausage stuffing at thanksgiving, that is inviolable and mandatory!

Those of you who cook, I'm curious: How much do you depend on recipes? "I follow all the steps"? "I know what I'm doing but usu check the proportions"? "I've got recipes but mostly use the folder/box/book for inspiration"? "Psh, if I was following a recipe I wouldn't say I could cook"? Or...?
