a rational person would look at a political party who tried to lie us into a civil war over a podcaster until they found out the shooter was one of them and run the other way. a healthy media would look at the last 24 hours as a gut check to make sure they don't lie us into more tragedies.
Now that Kirk's killer seems to be caught, maybe the news could spare a moment's attention for the right wing, from the commentariat up to the GOP and president, whose immediate reaction was not mourning, but to seize the opportunity to try to incite violence against groups they hate

She's right. We're all so steeped in political violence. It's a massive, cultural trauma in a country only willing to pay for less, for decades. Sadly, I think so much of the left feels obligated to kowtow because they're trying to prevent the civil war that Laura Loomer et al are trying to start.

There are violent extremists on the left but they are not in charge of the party. You can find them on social media, not in the halls of power. The violent extremists on the right are in congress, on courts, and sitting in the Oval Office.
Speaking of political violence, I don't know how many ICE kidnapping videos I've watched. Windows breaking, children crying, utter confusion. These people are then detained without beds, or food, or they're sent to facilities that tell people they're going to die without ever seeing daylight again.

It would be irresponsible not to assume that the amount of violence the president, intentionally or not, will be prone to urging his most unstable followers to embark on...in retaliation for the assassination of Charlie Kirk...is something every U.S. citizen should hold in their mind as high risk.
We must stand resolutely against political assassination and political violence of all kinds, and just as resolutely against everyone who exploits acts of violence as the pretext or excuse for political repression of political opponents.
This is one of the many, many reasons we should all condemn the celebration of political violence, as Kirk did here: You often don't get to decide when to dismount the tiger. It eats you first.
