New episode! We'd been talking about a topic on Silksong Hype for a while now and then the game got announced so this definitely jumped up in priority.
I think what really makes it land for me is that it's one of the most earnest games you will play that also has a laser focused understanding on the exact comedic timing of an rpg. Of course you would inspect the three rocks in that order. Of course you assume you'd get the flavor you selected. etc.

I recently went to a smaller con, Sonic Expo, and there were maybe 5 rows of AA and not a single booth your consider an exhibitor. No resellers for figures, no retro games sellers, no local game stores and honestly I wish all cons were like that. I'm willing to compromise but I know what I prefer.
Dragoncon will reject your submission saying they have enough similar work yet there are countless booths all selling mass produced dice, 3d printed crap, and funko pops. I love Dragoncon, truly its one of my favorite cons. But can you imagine a convention where all your friends flat out skip AA?
While we're talking about Dragoncon Artists Alley, can more folks talk about how stagnate it's been for years. There is a grandfather clause for artists each year meaning you always see the same 90% of booths.

I know folks are often quick to judge popular media from China but also I saw the trailer and the fight scenes gilave me a "what if Pixar was EPIC" vibe and looked like an absolute mess of SFX.

Pauper remains my favorite (non DanDan) format and the work you and the Panel do to keep it in check is a huge part of that. No other way to play magic is as approachable and varied as pauper.
I regret not flying out to one of their shows. I was frustrated that they didn't have a show when remotely close to Georgia despite Adult Swim being the reason they were doing that tour. That sounds amazing! Glad you got to experience that.

Nothing new to show off this year at Dragoncon sadly. While I am a little bummed seeing everyone show off new, challanging projects or at the different groups folks put together without me, I think ultimately with the new house causing stress and taking time I regretably made the right choice.
You could each something peach flavored (peach sweet tea/boba tea is actually popular) or boiled peanuts. Tbh we're more known for brunch, soul food (especially shrimp and grits/chicken and waffles), Cuban food, Korean/Mexican fusion, BBQ (lemon pepper wet), white queso. And yes, Waffle House.

All of Stranger Things, Walking Dead, and Most of Marvel were filmed here. A bunch of the props and talent for Fallout came from here. Anyone working remote for animation in California is likely to be from here. Most of American entertainment and art is tied to Georgia in some way!
It's funny to think about how you would theme an Atlanta-based Magic event because like half of the UB sets have been worked on here.
I'm on the miniboss which is collecting the last dozen or two rares for my Final Fantasy Set Cube. Nothing fancy besides some extra oomph to Gruul but I love how balanced that set is and I want to be able to play it all the time.
I can rec some tapes for future stuff if you'd like but unfortunately yeah, I've always found it was more trouble than it was worth.

Certainly it's not going to succeed Dragon Quest, you're probably right on the timing. The NES port was fairly well received and had its fans. Wizardry was always the biggest Western RPG in Japan though.

Seconded. Smaller events are doing this too. Sonic Expo literally had a jam session space to play Sega music. Saw folks walking around with violins and piccolos and DJ setups.

Dungeon Meshi is my favorite modern anime in the last few years. It's rare to have a fantasy with world building that good and NO fish out of water character to info dump at. It's really short but I like recommending Odd Taxi. Basically what if Pulp Fiction but with Fursonas.

I've long believed that Dark Souls and Yoshi's Island have the same approach to difficulty. In one game, you can organically change the level of difficulty by seeking out harder ways to play or grinding for more resources. The other game is Dark Souls.
Yeah definitely depends on the scope and what it's for but I'm always happy to point people to others that might if I cannot.

Ayyyye! I loved 84 Hashi, had some nice little conversations with Hashimoto-san in broken Japanese. The Chip Tanaka gameboy was my favorite piece on the wall but the whole place really put a physicality and a presence to the Japanese game dev scene.
Dandan might be my wife's and my favorite format. Especially the even weirder ones like chef chef.

Another trophy I worked on recently was the MSI MVP plaque for League of Legends. A combination of airbrushing and hand painting, I needed to make sure the yellow/orange/purple gradient glowed over a black stone without blowing anything out. It was *really* heavy too!
A county 45 minutes away from me is projected to have a water deficit by 2030 because of a Meta data center. Even if that all you ever use AI for in your life, it's like I just walked into a restaurant and saw someone in the back sneeze into their hands. It's a huge red flag.

I recently worked on a trophy for Lorcana! This is actually a gold tinted silver nitrate instead of our normal chroming, meaning you get that same mirror finish better than any paint without the challanges and restrictions metal plating. It's still just as difficult to photograph though.
