I've seen that one post about this, & it feels like my art still gets plenty of artifacting regardless of upscaling 8x. Maybe it's cause my 'pixel art' is actually an oekaki style but i don't know. This method of getting it to some multiple of 2000px on one side has removed the most artifacts for me

I guess I gotta make one part of my resolution 2000px and export as a jpg. It mostly gets rid of the compression, i guess. So stupid. I see all the github issues for this site's terrible image and video quality rotting for 2+ years and none of this has been improved or fixed yet.

Renpy actually doesn't really require programming beyond saying like "scene this_image" and then putting your dialogue in quotes. You kinda can slap images and text on the screen quickly and it'll be fine, so I suggest trying that out. I think Videotome is even simpler for linear games
