I'm just so angry that everyone didn't get the experience we did because WE COULD HAVE DONE THAT, nation. We could have!
Look, I hate private schools a LOT and think they should be abolished, but I will remain forever grateful that, in this awful awful timeline, we made the choices we did and sent the kid to private, and yeah, that makes me a hypocrite, but I'm okay with that because life is like that sometimes

And the knock-on effects would have meant fewer kids with colds, flu and everything else kids get. And bring home to parents. And..
Gah, and the weekly PCR testing also proved that we should have skipped all in-person Family Holidays in 2020 and 2021. (I should have saved those screen-shots). The school went to online only classes for a week after every break because positive tests went through the roof.

Gaah. Yeah, HVAC improvements were totally on the list of Things Rich Schools Did. It was a non-trivial amount of money! But it also was very clear that you could just FIX THIS with cash and some reasonable rules. ...and that's not what we did, and I'll forever be mad about it.
It's worth noting that the expensive private schools did this. They reopened in person in Fall of 2020, with new ventilation systems, mandatory masking and weekly PCR testing of everyone on campus. It worked.

I dunno if it's a change in the person, the political climate, or what, but it was a definite difference.
This was true at my pharmacy when I got mine a year and a half ago. They now will try and do everything they possibly can all at once. I got MMR, RSV and Pneumonia the same day this year, and she checked to make sure I'd had the shingles one.

It terrified her, and was just so horribly awful. (One of the very very few things I've been grateful my mother doesn't have money.)

The latter fails to assist the visitor when there is an "unexpected" detour into the Marsh - where the monsters (history) who aren't interested in coexisting with humans (those who want to sanitize the past) live. This is presented as threatening and Very Scary
