Speaking of, the Retired Working Dogs page just came across my eyes and there’s a farm dog Jazz who has “lost her bark” and is great with kids and other dogs. 🥹

It’s just unbelievable how he gets away with this micromanaging overreach every single time. I suppose staff don’t feel secure enough in their jobs to whistleblow or go to the media. Of course, not that media is showing much interest in holding him to account. It’s SO EGREGIOUS. Aaaarrrrghhgghh.

And I’ve agreed to donate my drum kit to the band’s flat for next year. Now that my shoulders are wrecked it may as well go somewhere that it’ll get a lot of use! PS Apologies in advance to their neighbours…. but they *are* a good band, so actually, you’re welcome! lol

Did this trip for the 3rd time today and I love it so much. It feels like a bit of faff to load/unload my wheelchair to go for a short stroll, but it’s also nothing compared to the headache of driving downtown and looking for parking. I love my mobility options!

Please read Andrew’s piece for a clear glimpse of how MoE passes the buck, deflects & ignores the science on clean air in schools. Stanford and Seymour so desperate for parents to be at work & the optics of kids in class, but health and safety are inconvenient hassles for MoE & school BoTs. #nzpol
Cyn (@cyncharron.bsky.social) reply parent
Andrew! Thank you for keeping the heat on them in this way. Several points in MoE’s responses are angry-making, not least their beloved line “schools set their own policies”. Can you believe we are STILL fighting this fight?!?! 🫠 Hope you and the whānau are all well.

Yep for things you’ll definitely use (& have to space to store in the meantime) it can be excellent. You’ve reminded me: last time I was in Canada, late 2019, I went w Mom to Costco in my hometown & saw this. There were pallets and pallets of it! Why did I take a photo? Prob bc it was so cheap!

😆 Right?!?! The whole concept is a bit bonkers. But I do have fond memories of going to Costco as a teen (in Canada). I do *sometimes* wish we had one in Christchurch, but I’m aware of the potential spending pitfalls.

Good on you @hungrymama.bsky.social. You shouldn’t feel like a dork. You’re the smartest person in the room. I wish organisers and venues would have the guts to make it clear that people should stay home if they have symptoms. It wouldn’t solve this issue, but I definitely think it would help.

“The absence of caution and safety in schools during the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 is a glaring instance of deliberate negligence.” Deliberate negligence. It’s not that schools CAN’T do anything, it’s that they DON’T WANT TO.

He's also always wrong about how many people would have died. He was wrong during Covid, he's wrong now. I can remember when in Aug 2020 he said we should open up because Sweden (2x our pop) had "only" had 6000 deaths and was through the worst of it. Sweden went on to suffer another 18,000 deaths.

@grumpyyetamusin.bsky.social is 100 right. Hipkins (and Verrall) made this bed, at several points in time, when they COULD have kept protections going and/or made them stronger. In case anyone needs reminding.

The reality is there are MANY things schools could do to protect students and staff but they don’t want to. And not enough parents and teachers are demanding it.
Cyn (@cyncharron.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s been v effective for schools to keep the focus on “teacher shortages” rather than “schools’ failure to take all practicable steps to prevent & limit illness spread”. One successful lawsuit against a Principal (as PCBU) taken on behalf of a teacher or student w long covid would do it.
