Iāll be riding more or less this route in reverse next weekend as long as weather cooperates. With wider tires, Short Hills makes a lovely detour through the trees, if itās not too far from your route and you like a little bit of dirt.

Yikes! I also did this one, many many years ago in the Don Valley. That was definitely a lot scarier, but maybe because it was steel, it failed slowly (like over maybe 3 seconds) so I had the chance to almost come to a stop before the thing snapped right off.
This happened to me once, several years ago. Luckily the event itself was painless, but my legs are still recovering from the ride home.

Oh jeez. My mom rode these roads daily well into her 60s, and only stopped because she left the province. When I went out with her it always felt safe. This is scary.
